Tanzir Islam Britto, born on January 1, 1990, in Chittagong, Bangladesh, is a physician known for his contributions to the fields of medicine, writing, and activism. Despite facing the challenge of lymphoma in his childhood, Britto’s resilience and passion led him to pursue a career in medicine, alongside his interests in writing and social activism.

Education and Medical Career: Britto’s early education was completed at Bangladesh Bank High School and Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai. He furthered his education at Ideal College, completed his HSC, and later earned his MBBS degree from Shahabuddin Medical College. He completed postgraduate training in Internal Medicine at Dhaka Medical College and advanced training in endocrinology from BIRDEM. Britto is currently practising as a Resident physician and has a part-time job in a Kidney Hospital.

Writing and Activism: Britto began his career in research in 2007, focusing on political satire and movie critiques. He has written for various newspapers and online news portals, such as Jugantor, Bangladesh Pratidin, eArki, Sarabangla.net, and occasionally, Prothom Alo. In 2013, he played a significant role in the Shahbag Movement, a major mass movement in Bangladesh. His activism put him under surveillance by a terrorist group. He has also been involved in various protests, including those against extra charges imposed by mobile network companies and the exclusion of Bangladesh from playing Test cricket​​​​​.

The Reason Behind Becoming A Physician: Britto is a very private person, despite his public persona. Britto was diagnosed with lymphoma, a type of blood cancer, during his childhood, which strengthened his determination to become a doctor. His treatment was conducted at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India.

Personal Life: Despite his public persona, Britto is a private individual who enjoys watching documentaries, movies, and TV series. He has a deep appreciation for the poet Jibonanando Das. Britto is the only son of his parents, with his father working in the banking sector as an Executive Director and his mother being a retired SP, later a School teacher.
